Terms of Service

The rules for using this site, quoting our reporting and cooking our recipes: what you may do, what needs our permission, and the limits of what we promise.

01Agreement to these terms

These terms govern your use of piercepublishing.app (the “site”), including Pierce Newsroom, published by Pierce Publishing House LLC of Dallas, Texas, USA (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The Pantry app and Pantry Pro subscriptions are governed by the app’s own Terms & Conditions and Subscription Terms. Books bought from retailers are sold under the retailer’s terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

02Our content and trademarks

Everything we publish on the site, including articles, Pierce Newsroom reporting and analysis, recipes, book text and illustrations, logos, designs, graphics, code and the selection and arrangement of all of it, is owned by Pierce Publishing House or used under licence, and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark and other laws. Photographs credited to other people or platforms remain the property of their owners and are used under their licences.

Pierce Publishing House, Pierce Newsroom, Pantry, Pantry Pro, My Very First Little™, Childhood Connected and their logos are our trademarks. You may not use them in a way that suggests we endorse you, your product or your content, or that could confuse anyone about who is behind a publication or product.

You are welcome to:

  • read, print and save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use;
  • share links to our pages and articles, and share our posts through the share features of social platforms;

04What you may not do

Without our written permission, you may not:

  • republish, syndicate, sell or license our articles, recipes, images or book content, in whole or in substantial part;
  • remove or alter copyright notices, credits, bylines or source notes;
  • present our reporting or recipes as your own, or edit them in a way that changes their meaning while keeping our name on them;
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site, or use its content to build a dataset or to train, fine-tune or evaluate an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning system, except for ordinary search-engine indexing;
  • try to get into parts of the site that are not public, interfere with its security or operation, or overload it;
  • use the site or our contact form for anything unlawful, abusive, misleading or spam.

05Pierce Newsroom reporting

Pierce Newsroom publishes reporting, analysis and opinion for general information. It is not financial, investment, legal, medical or other professional advice, and you should not act on it without advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances. Analysis and opinion pieces reflect the judgment of their authors at the time of publication.

We work to get every fact right, cite our sources and attribute contested claims, as set out in our Ethics & Corrections policy. Facts change after publication, and an article is accurate as of its date unless we have updated or corrected it. If you believe something we published is wrong, please tell us so we can correct it.

06Recipes and food content

Our recipes, meal ideas and food content, on this site and in the Pantry app, are for general home-cooking use. They are not medical, nutritional or dietary advice and are not a substitute for advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.

  • Allergies and dietary needs: check every ingredient and product label yourself. Allergen information we give is a guide, products change, and kitchens can cross-contaminate.
  • Food safety: follow safe handling, storage and cooking practices, and cook meat, poultry, seafood and eggs to safe internal temperatures. Results vary with ingredients, equipment and technique.
  • Prices and availability of ingredients are estimates and may differ in store.

You are responsible for deciding whether a recipe is suitable for you and the people you cook for.

07Messages you send us

If you send us a story tip, correction, feedback or idea, you confirm that you have the right to share it, and you allow us to use it to report, correct or improve our work. We protect the identity of confidential sources as described in our Ethics & Corrections policy. Please do not send us anything confidential that you have no right to share, or unsolicited manuscripts.

09Disclaimers

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and we do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.

10Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Pierce Publishing House and its owners, staff and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or its content, including reliance on any article or recipe. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

11Indemnity

If you break these terms or the law in using the site, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, including reasonable legal fees.

12Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to the site or these terms will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you live in a country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, that right is not affected.

13Changes and contact

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.

Questions about these terms: hello@piercepublishing.app.
